Access to Public Information
The Act of 6 September on Access to Public Information imposes a duty on civil service bodies to ensure access to all information on public issues, with the exemption extending to classified information only. The right of access to public information provides an entitlement to :
obtain the access to public information, including processed information;
inspect official documents;
gain access to collegial meetings of public bodies elected by means of free public voting;
Every person has the right of access to public information.
Public information is made available through:
announcements in the on-line Public Information Bulletin (in Polish: Biuletyn Informacji Publicznej);
provision at the request of an interested person;
presentation in a public place.
Public information which has not been made accessible in a Public Information Bulletin can be made available upon request. The application for access to public information does not need to be justified.
